This Friday Night Fireworks video was a lot of fun to make. We did our best to mimic the actual Ramones video for “I Wanna Be Sedated” which was shot in one shot at half speed while the band sat at a table moving slowly. The rest of the scene keeps filling with more and more people creating a frenetic pace. We did the same thing with this video and I think it turned out pretty good.
I wrote the lyrics, sang the drum part, acted in the video, and edited (if you can call it editing since it was one shot).
I didn’t have a ton to do with the production of this video. I was tasked with recreating the Mary Tyler Moore title graphic. I think I did a pretty good job of matching the original in After Effects. The rest of the video was shot and edited by Jordan Lynn.
This was an interesting story to produce. TommieMedia did not have video rights for the semi-final game so I had to plug in to the feed from the ESPN production truck and write down the time codes for the shots that I wanted. I was only able to shoot before and after the game and I think that the story is one of the better one’s I’ve produced.
This is a piece on the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs that I produced for TommieMedia. One of the things I enjoy about this piece is the shot of the bell at the beginning. I experimented all season with different angles to shoot the bell from and this is one of my favorites.
The fun thing about blow outs is that you have more time to experiment with cool cutaways and different shots when the game has already been decided. Here I was able to get some great finds like the football on the opening shot (that wasn’t planted, it was actually just sitting there) and shooting into the sun to get that cool wash out.
