Art students’ work on display at St. Kate’s

Creativity was on display last weekend at St. Catherine’s as seniors in the studio art program displayed the fruits of their labor.

St. Thomas senior Elizabeth Dourgarian joined St. Kate’s seniors Molly Kruger and Kelly Lauren Miner to kick off the show with a reception Saturday. Each artist showcased work that had taken years to complete.

St. Thomas makes list of most underrated colleges

St. Thomas tied for No. 41 out of the 50 most underrated colleges in America, according to a January ranking by Business Insider magazine.

The magazine’s designation of “underrated” colleges is based on rankings done by U.S. News and World Report and PayScale. The U.S. News rankings are based on undergraduate academic reputation, student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving rate. That ranking is then compared to PayScale’s ranking, which is based on the average mid-career salary of the school’s graduates.

Women’s hockey advances to MIAC championship

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – Led by senior forward Tara Baago’s team-leading 15th goal of the season, the second-seeded St. Thomas women’s hockey team defeated the third-seeded Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Saint Thomas Ice Arena to advance to the MIAC championship game.
