This was one of the first things that I shot and produced for class. The point of the assignment was to shoot a 1-minute video featuring an interview and cut in b-roll footage over the top. It was pretty straight forward but I wanted to have a little fun with the project so I played around with the story.
St. Thomas tied for No. 41 out of the 50 most underrated colleges in America, according to a January ranking by Business Insider magazine.
The magazine’s designation of “underrated” colleges is based on rankings done by U.S. News and World Report and PayScale. The U.S. News rankings are based on undergraduate academic reputation, student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving rate. That ranking is then compared to PayScale’s ranking, which is based on the average mid-career salary of the school’s graduates.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – Led by senior forward Tara Baago’s team-leading 15th goal of the season, the second-seeded St. Thomas women’s hockey team defeated the third-seeded Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Saint Thomas Ice Arena to advance to the MIAC championship game.
Another early video for a class. I produced and starred in this piece as Max Zorin, a “retired” spy. I think it’s funny.
Heart pumping. The crisp January air nips at his fingertips. His eyes dart quickly from his laptop screen to the crowd gathered in front of him. As the song builds, so does the energy of the stocking cap-clad audience until the tension is too much to bear. Then the beat drops.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – Backstopped by goaltender Drew Fielding’s sixth shutout of the season, the No. 14-ranked St. Thomas men’s hockey team took down struggling Bethel University 4-0 Saturday night at St. Thomas Ice Arena.
This short film was shot for a class and was one of the first videos I produced as a student at St. Thomas. It was shot entirely with an iPhone and edited on iMovie. It stars my 15-year-old Chihuahua, Chino.
